Magnolia made a strong comeback with a dominating performance against Blackwater in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Magnolia won by a score of 91–69.

The Hotshots played for the first time since losing their opening game of the conference to the Barangay Ginebra King two weeks earlier. Playing against the Bossing for the first time since then, the Hotshots routed the Bossing in the final three quarters, outscoring them 72-47 to break away for good.

Magnolia is currently in first place in the league thanks to the efforts of Nick Rakocevic and Ian Sangalang, who each tallied 17 points to help the team move to a record of 6-1 and stay a half game clear of Bay Area and Converge.

In addition, Rakocevic pulled down 15 boards.

Ato Ular’s perfect game, in which he scored 14 points by going 4-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, was thrown away as Blackwater suffered its third consecutive loss, falling to 3-6 overall and putting the team’s chances of making the playoffs in jeopardy.

On October 23, the Kings prevailed over the Hotshots by a score of 103-97.
