One of my best friends from college lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since
2001, I have taken an annual road trip to visit her (stopping for a few
days of hiking in Sedona, Arizona on the way in and/or on the way back).

The Hoover Dam can be found 30 miles south-east of Las Vegas on the
border between Nevada and Arizona. Completed in 1936 the dam generates
hydro-electric power using water from man-made Lake Mead.
