Welcome to Colours, East London’s most vibrant venue…
Colours, a multi-arts bar and club on Hoxton Square, launched this month – hosting fun, informative and inspirational events every single evening!
Open from midday every day, the space serves as a lunchtime hangout and creative hub during the daytime, providing a space for collaborators and members to work, rehearse and record podcasts. Come night-time, Colours becomes host to a wild and wonderful line up of the events you never knew you needed…
Mondays are for sex positive events: go along to Queer Experiments for an evening with talks, shows and art by specially invited performers, writers and thinkers. Meanwhile, Colours hosts a range of sober celebrating activities as part of #SoberTuesdays. You can also learn the art of drag make-up at a LGBTQ+ sober monthly mixer, in their very own beauty laboratory. Expect pro tips from Muslim drag queen The Nightclub, helping East London’s (and beyond!) queer community to find a sober space with proper chill vibes.
Other sober events include their sober PJ party, where you can enjoy popcorn, capri-suns and some of your favourite 90s flicks. Black Girl Magic Film Club will be showing cult classic ‘The Wiz’ and 1997 Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ – again popcorn included! 😍
Wednesdays are all about nakedness and body love workshops. A mindfulness workshop with tarot queen Suhaiyla Shakuwra will explore ‘The Art of Being Present’.
Thursdays will host creative meetups and live podcasts, while Saturdays will see a rotation of creative yoga classes – from Hip Hop Yoga with Gyal Flex to ‘Movement for Service’ yoga for those aching from the strains of the hospitality industry.
And the fun won’t end there – expect future line-ups of queer experimental cinema and neon naked life drawing, keeping the vibes vibrant at all times. 🤩 Their 300-capacity live music venue will wow you with a line up of intimate gigs in collaboration with fellow multi-arts spaces Village Underground and EartH (mentioned in our venue guide!)
The venue will showcase both local and global up and coming artists, housing a top of the range D&B Audiotechnik PA System, bringing the hottest Nu Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul, Electro Pop, and R’n’B to East London. Club nights will see you into the early ours, with residencies from LGBTQ+ Bollywood powerhouse HUNGAMA; London’s most inclusive clubnight Pxssy Palace; house & techno party Naturalia, femme-led immersive theatre collective Shotgun Carousel and more!
Those who were regulars at the former Hoxton Kitchen & Bar are urged not to panic; king of the wings Orange Buffalo will still be providing a tasty selection of New York style wings, burgers and fries, available at even tastier prices on their lunch time special (vegan wings included)!
But above all else, it’s ‘The Colour Trap’ that makes this place so iconic. Burning Man lighting sculptor Christopher Schardta created this captivating LED ceiling installation to make any event a colourful one. Grab a pair of prismatic gazing specs from behind the bar to enjoy their ‘Holiocentric Electric’ installation, and see colours on every spectrum. 🤩
If you’re looking for the most vibrant variety of food, drinks, gigs, club nights, classes, workshops, movies and parties to light up your London living, Colours is the place for you to be! 🌈
